Greater Lehigh Valley Athletics and Saucon Valley Elementary School PTO Recognized with Prestigious Awards

January 5, 2025 - The Greater Lehigh Valley Athletics and the Saucon Valley Elementary School PTO were awarded the prestigious Raceway Chevrolet 2024 “Youth Sports Program Award” and the “Back-to-School” Program Award, respectively.

“The Greater Lehigh Valley Athletics (GLVA) is a non-profit youth sport organization in Bethlehem, PA that offers NFL flag football and cheer programs,” said Keri Neidig, co-founder of GLVA. “Our mission is teaching youth through positive role models with an emphasis on learning and enjoying a sport, while instilling high moral standards by stressing the importance of academic achievement and community involvement,” Neidig
continued. “We could not do that without the support of Raceway Chevrolet who has always been a great community partner” concluded Neidig.

“Youth sports aren’t just about having fun and staying active,” said John Broderick, General Manager and Managing Partner of Raceway Chevrolet. “It also raises self-esteem, teaches teamwork and provides important life lessons and that’s why we’re dedicated to youth sports,” Broderick continued. “By supporting Greater Lehigh Valley Athletics, Raceway Chevy is here to empower the next generation of “Major League” hopefuls — both on, and off the field,” concluded Broderick.

The 2024 Raceway Chevrolet “Back to School” Program Award will be presented to the Saucon Valley Elementary School PTO. “Our mission is to enhance and support the educational experience at the Saucon Valley Elementary School,” said Meghan Lomangino, President/Saucon Valley Elementary School PTO. “We strive to develop a closer connection between school and home by encouraging parental involvement and to improve the environment at the school through volunteer and support from great corporate community partners like Raceway Chevrolet,” concluded Lomangino.  “We know how important a good education is and believe it is crucial to support the students and the teachers at the local level,” said Broderick. “Raceway Chevrolet is proud to support the Saucon Valley Elementary School PTO as a part of our continuing commitment to the communities we serve,” concluded Broderick.

Each award included a $1,000 donation from Raceway Chevrolet.

Partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance

GLVA has established a partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national non-profit developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building sports experience in January 2020.

The partnership provides GLVA access to PCA’s training for coaches, sports parents, student-athletes and administrators, comprising live group workshops, online courses, books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson and additional online resources, such as e-mailed follow-up tips and reminders.

PCA has partnered with roughly 3,500 youth sports organizations, schools, districts, conferences, and park-and-rec departments to create a Development ZoneTM culture, where the goal is using youth and high school sports to develop Better Athletes, Better People, Thompson said. “We look forward to working with (insert name of organization) to create the best possible experience for the youth athletes. Our research-based materials combine the latest in sports psychology, education and practical advice from top pro and college coaches and athletes that help improve athletic performance while also ensuring kids take life lessons from sports that will help them throughout the rest of their lives.”
